The Parliament and Civil Society Organizations Collaboration Strategy Document was launch today (04/05/2023) at the National Assembly.
The launch was graced by their Excellencies, Dasho Wangchuk Namgyel, the Speaker of the Parliament of Bhutan, and Dasho Tashi Dorji, the Chairperson of the National Council of Bhutan, Ms Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director of the Department for Asia and the Pacific of the European External Action Services (EEAS), Mr Mario Ronconi, Head of Unit for South and Southeast Asia at the Directorate General for International Partnership of the European Commission, and Ms Leena Rikkila Tamang, Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, International IDEA, in the presence Members of Parliament, Secretary General of the two Houses of the Parliament, Officials from the Parliament Secretariats, Ms Tashi Pem, Country Director of Helvetas Bhutan, representatives from the CSOs and officials from International IDEA Helvetas Bhutan.
The strategy document presents enormous opportunities for collaboration between the Parliament and the CSOs and is expected to facilitate effective participation of the CSOs in the transformation process given the role CSOs are play in complementing the government’s efforts.
The strategy document was funded by the European Union and was implemented through Project Nyamdrel by International IDEA / Helvetas Bhutan.
